ITINERARY
Day 1 - Nov. 4: International flight
International flight from city of origin in the U.S. to Cairo, Egypt, via Paris.
Day 2 - Nov. 5: Arrival in Cairo
Arrival in Cairo at 11:40 p.m. Transportation to hotel and lodging.
Day 3 - Nov. 6: Cairo & the Pyramids
Giza and its famous Pyramids: Keops, Kefren, Mikerinos and the Sphinx. Visits to the Egyptian Museum, the Christian Quarter, Holy Family Synagogue, Alabaster Mosque and the Citadel. In the afternoon, shopping stop at a traditional bazaar, Khan El Khalil. Welcome dinner on board a Nile cruise (included in cost). Lodging.
Day 4 - Nov. 7: The Desert & the Sinai
Crossing of the Suez Canal from Africa into Asia. Brief stop in Mara (Moses' water wells), followed by lunch by the Red Sea. Continue through the Valley of Paran and Elim's oasis. Arrival, dinner and lodging in Mount Sinai.
Day 5 - Nov. 8: Mount Sinai to Jordan
Optional sunrise hike to the peak of Mount Sinai. Morning visit to the Franciscan monastery where Moses' burning bush is believed to be. Departure toward the Red Sea's east coast. Lunch in Taba by the sea. Later, border crossing from Egypt into Israel to continue to Petra, in Jordan. Dinner and lodging.
Day 6 - Nov. 9: Petra & Amman
Visit to the spectacular Rose City of Petra, considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. Walk down its canyon or Siq to the Treasury building and then continue exploring the ancient city with its Roman Amphitheater, Colonnaded Street and Corinthian Tomb. In the afternoon, a visit to Wadi Musa (Valley of Moses) and arrival in Amman. Dinner and Lodging.
Day 7 - Nov. 10: Gerasa & Mount Nebo
Special visit to Gerasa, ancient Roman city with ruins of Byzantine churches. Half day visit to Madaba and Mount Nebo. Later, border crossing at Sheik Hussein. Arrival in Tiberias, Israel. Dinner and lodging.
Day 8 - Nov. 11: Tiberias, Jordan River
Tour of the Galilee region: the Beatitudes Mount, Tabgha and the Church of the Multiplication, and Capernaum, the town of Jesus. Later, boat ride across the Sea of Galilee. In the afternoon, a stop by the Jordan river and time for baptism ceremonies (optional). Dinner and lodging.
Day 9 - Nov. 12: Masada, the Dead Sea
Visits to Cana, site of Jesus' first miracle, and then Nazareth and the Mount of the Precipice. Visit to Masada, a mountain crowned by King Herod's last fortress. Brief stop in Qumran and the Dead Sea. Arrival to Jerusalem. Dinner and lodging.
Day 10 - Nov. 13: Modern Jerusalem
Visits include the Sanctuary of the Book within the Museum of Israel, which houses the Dead Sea Scrolls and a scale model of the ancient city of Jerusalem. Also, Yad VaShem, the Holocaust Museum. Descend on foot from the Mount of Olives to visit the Church of Dominus Flevit, where Jesus cried for Jerusalem and site of the Lord's Prayer; the Garden of Gethsemane and the Church of the Agony. In the afternoon, if there is still daylight, visit of Bethlehem. Return to Jerusalem. Dinner and lodging.
Day 11 - Nov. 14: Old Jerusalem
The Western Wall and the Temple Mount where once stood Solomon's Temple (today the site of the Al-Aqsa Mosque). The Via Dolorosa, the Garden of the Tomb and the Golgotha. Optional visit to the Holy Sepulcher. Mount Zion, the traditional Room of the Last Supper, King David 's Tomb, the Lions Gate, the Bethesda Pool, and the Christian Quarter. Free time. Dinner and lodging.
Day 12 - Nov. 15: Tel Aviv, Yaffo
Tour of Tel Aviv: The Museum of the Diaspora, the village of Yaffo or Joppe and its different neighborhoods. On the way back to Jerusalem, planting of a tree in the hills of Judea at Neot Kedumim, the Biblical Landscape Reserve in Israel. Dinner and lodging.
Day 13 - Nov. 16: Jerusalem
Free day to explore the city at your own pace. Dinner in the hotel and lodging. Departure to Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion airport around 11 p.m.
Day 14 - Nov. 17: Travel back home
Flight back to the U.S.
